I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year. We will be learning and experiencing many new and exciting things, including but not limited to, in depth math concepts, writing, Idaho history, interesting children’s literature, science, art, music, technology, and much more. I am committed to making sure that we will all have a successful, interesting, and insightful year.
The students and I will spend the first few days of school getting to know each other, discussing the rules of the classroom and building a respectful community of learners. This week, we will begin sending home the first homework assignments. Each night your child will bring home his or her agenda, in which they should have written their homework assignments and other important things related to class work. This must come back to school every morning. There is a place where you must sign each night to indicate that your child has completed the homework assignments and that your child has read for the indicated time. YOUR CHILD MUST READ FOR A MINIMUM OF 20 MINUTES EVERY NIGHT. This is extremely important in order to build the reading skills and fluency necessary for success in school.
Your child will also bring home a folder labeled “Homework”. In this folder your child will bring home any homework sheets, important notices from school, permission slips, etc. PLEASE CHECK THIS FOLDER EACH NIGHT. This folder has two pockets, the left pocket labeled “return to school” is for homework sheets or important school forms which must be completed and brought back to school the next day. The pocket labeled “stays at home” is for corrected student work for you to keep, school or teacher notices, and community announcements. This folder also must be brought back to school every morning.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you this year and working with you to be sure that your child receives the quality education he or she deserves. Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding any questions or concerns. Thank you very much.
